Eli Walker’s paintings are rooted in the Punk and Country music culture he grew up in, his abstract landscapes a distillation of his time spent travelling through the American DIY garage band scene.
There is a raw energy in these pictures, a charged mark making that sparks his paintings into life. Elements are broken, layered, cracked and splintered, the forms chaotic as if vying for space, the constructions he builds full of verve with a high octane energy that retains his punk attitude to art and his need to challenge the conventions of art making.
These pictures are a humorous dig at formal art making, his synesthetic process of construction leaves us with lyrical work that defies classification
If you happen to be in Dalls in November you can see Eli Walkers new show from 15th – 30th November at the RE Gallery, 1717 Gould Street, Dallas, Texas
